He has vast international experience having worked overseas in public health, paediatrics and tropical medicine. "Personal experience in travel" is fundamental to the practice of travel medicine. His work has taken him to Western Samoa, Fiji, Tokelau, Kiribati and Tonga in the Pacific, Uganda in Africa, and Nepal, India and Burma in South Asia. He has also worked as a paediatrician in Papua New Guinea and Central Australia.
His work as a travel medicine physician has taken him on a few extreme treks including Kokoda, Mt Kilimanjaro, Annapurna and Mt Kinabalu. This extensive and diverse international experience allows him to offer invaluable insights in his clinical practice and at health briefings for intending overseas placements. In the past he was Medical Advisor to the Australian Youth Ambassador Program (AYAD), Australian Volunteers for International Development (AVID) and Engineers without Borders (EWB). He maintains a special interest in medical education relating to vaccine preventable disease and tropical paediatrics. He still works in a clinical capacity with Healthy Travel.

Dr Bob Kass is a very experienced, reliable & up-to-date travel medicine physician whom I have known professionally & personally for many years. Since my retirement we have been fortunate to travel extensively to exotic destinations. Bob's excellent advice has helped my family (including young grandchildren) enjoy healthy travel. Over the years I have made extensive use of Bob's "Little Book". I have had the opportunity to review the latest edition - “A Pocketbook on Healthy Travel" - & I am most impressed by the detailed, easy-to-follow, comprehensive information it contains.
I first met Dr. Bob through the Australian Volunteers program, and I have used his travel medicine services ever since!
