Nepal

Nepal is a popular destination for Australian travellers, particularly those wanting to trek in the Himalayas. Group travel is common, but many travellers arrange their own tours through word of mouth. Backpacking is made easy by a wide range of accommodation options.  Many of those travelling to Nepal are international students or migrants returning home, often with their children who have never lived in Nepal. There are many expatriate workers with not-for-profit organisations or NGO's that are based in Nepal. 

Health advice will vary according to the reason for travel (holiday, work, volunteering, visiting friends or relatives), accommodation (5 star, Airbnb, home stay) length of stay, time of year (wet or dry season) and location (urban or rural).

Consider taking a basic medical kit plus extras according to your intended activities. Always carry a letter regarding your medications and make sure it is easily accessible. Never travel without insurance.
