Dr Emma Ramsey is an experienced and compassionate General Practitioner with a special interest in Travel Medicine. After graduating with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from Flinders University in 2011, Emma pursued further training in Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Paediatrics, and Palliative Medicine before completing her Fellowship in Rural General Practice in 2016.
With a deep commitment to community-based healthcare, Emma has undertaken diverse clinical placements both in Australia and internationally. Her professional journey has taken her to rural and remote settings including Darwin, Airlie Beach, the Riverland and Barossa regions of SA, and internationally to Ngwelezane Hospital in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, and Nakhon Ratchasima in Thailand. These varied experiences have strengthened her holistic and culturally sensitive approach to patient care.
Before embarking on her medical career, Dr Ramsey spent a formative year in Japan as a high school exchange student, igniting a lifelong love of travel, languages, and cross-cultural experiences. She has since travelled extensively across Australia and internationally, including to New Zealand, Europe, Southeast Asia, Africa, and the Pacific. Her travel adventures have continued with her three young children, with whom she shares a passion for exploring the world—past family trips have included France, Italy, and Samoa and Japan.
An avid hiker and outdoors enthusiast, Emma has completed iconic treks such as the Overland Track in Tasmania and the Milford and Routeburn Tracks in New Zealand. She enjoys camping, hiking, and spending quality time with family and friends. She is also passionate about learning languages and is always eager to hear about others’ travel stories, offering both medical and practical advice to help patients make the most of their journeys.
Emma brings a warm, empathetic, and globally-informed perspective to her work, blending clinical excellence with a genuine interest in her patients’ lives and wellbeing.
