Dr Elaine Powell

Dr Elaine Powell is a GP with a special interest in Travel Medicine.

She trained in the UK in Emergency Medicine and General Practice before moving to Australia to work for the RFDS in Broken Hill. Dr Elaine has had a longstanding interest in travel and completed the Diploma of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene at Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine. She is a member of the International Society of Travel Medicine.

Her interest in travel started following a medical student elective in Kwazulu Natal, South Africa and continues today – most recently travelling to Peru and Argentina. Other trips have included Everest Base Camp trek, volunteer work in Ghana, backpacking in Mexico, Venezuela and Tanzania and a camping safari in Botswana.
