Mika Hiroi

Mika Hiroi is a medical writer based in Aotearoa New Zealand, specialising in travel health, vaccine-preventable disease and health education. With six years of dedicated experience, Mika has established a reputation for delivering clear, informative and engaging medical content tailored to both healthcare professionals and the general public.

Mika’s work spans a range of formats, including education materials and health advisories. She is an experienced educator and has delivered numerous presentations discussing new vaccine technologies, vaccine preventable disease, and health and wellbeing for long-term international volunteers.

Mika is currently working with the Immunisation Advisory Centre in New Zealand, an organisation dedicated to equitable protection from vaccine-preventable disease and provides advice to the health workforce, New Zealand government and media. She also is a contributor to SHIVERS-V (Flulab), a study to understand the impact of border restrictions and other public health measures on the transmission of respiratory viruses in New Zealand.

Living in Aotearoa, Mika is deeply connected to the health needs and challenges of the Pacific region. She is dedicated to promoting awareness and understanding of vaccine-preventable disease, the importance of immunisation for outbreak prevention and protecting vulnerable communities.
